Hi! I'm Esther from Aqua Terra Performance. I’m an NASM-qualified personal trainer and an AUSTSWIM-certified swimming instructor. I specialise in pre- and postnatal training and infant swim training. I decided to specialise in pre- and postnatal training when I realised there was a need for more qualified experts in Hong Kong. A lot of my friends and clients were getting pregnant, and had loads of questions about how to stay in shape while ensuring that they had a safe and healthy pregnancy. Similarly, I found that many new mothers wanted to get back into shape or get back into their favourite sports - but did not know where to start and how to do it safely.
I’ll be writing weekly articles covering a wide range of topics in my areas of expertise, from safe exercises for each trimester, to restoring strength and function to your pelvic floor after birth, to getting your baby to love the water. In case you’d like to know a bit more about me, I grew up in Hong Kong and have always had an active interest in sports, particularly water sports. This was reinforced when I discovered my love for rowing and when I joined the British Army Officer's Training Corps while at university in the UK. Following graduation, I had a brief career in the art world, but soon realised that my true passion was in helping people to get fitter and healthier. Now I’m lucky enough to train, support and coach on a daily basis. When I’m not at the gym or in the swimming pool I also teach people how to row and Stand Up Paddle (SUP), and I love competing at regattas and adventure races. I’m a huge fan of animals, and I also have a not-so-secret sweet tooth!
