About the Author:
Derrick Barnes, an award-winning American author, has crafted a remarkable literary career. His works include the New York Times bestseller "The King of Kindergarten" and the critically acclaimed picture book "Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut." Barnes's accolades include a Newbery Honor, a Coretta Scott King Author Honor, the 2018 Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Award, and the 2018 Kirkus Prize for Young Readers. As the creator of the blog 'Raising the Mighty,' he shares the experience of bringing up four beautiful Black boys in America. Derrick resides with his family in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

About the Illustrator:
Gordon C. James, an award-winning illustrator renowned for his work on "Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut," has contributed to various books, including "Let 'Er Buck!: George Fletcher, the People's Champion." His artistry, recipient of a Society of Illustrators Gold Medal, is featured in International Artist Magazine and forms part of the Paul R. Jones Collection. Gordon resides with his family in Charlotte, North Carolina.
