If you are fortunate enough to have a babysitter or carer available in the evenings then why not take the opportunity to head out with your partner to explore and enjoy all this cosmopolitan city has to offer. Hong Kong likes to stay up late and has plenty of good food options as well as an efficient, cheap, and reliable transport system to get you around.
Like most capital cities in the world you will find ‘areas’ or ‘pocket’s’ that have certain ‘signature’ style cuisines. Whether it be traditional local fare or international flavours, Hong Kong will not disappoint.
Stuck for ideas? Here’s a few suggestions to get you started …
Casual dining with friends, Hong Kong style!
If you are preferring a casual night out with friends then why not try ‘Luk Yu Tea House’ on Stanley Street in Central. The restaurant offers a very popular ‘dim sum’ menu and an array of Chinese and English teas. Inside, you will be graced with old fashioned interiors set with wooden panelling, ceiling fans, and white table cloths that emulates a dated ‘old school’ vibe. Coupled with good, fast food and service, ‘Luk Yu Tea House’ makes for an authentic, Chinese cuisine experience.
Pack the cash and ‘don’ the heels!
Two Michelin Star and multi award winning fine dining restaurant, ‘Amber’, is a perfect choice for a truly special and memorable night together. Located on the 7th floor of the Landmark Mandarin Oriental in Central, ‘Amber’s’ interiors exude style, sophistication, and decadence. You most definitely ‘get what you pay for’. Amazing food, creativity and presentation paralleled with fantastic, attentive and precise service that confidently generates great ambience yet is still relaxed and most importantly, romantic.
Spice it up with some Sichuan heat!
Some like it hot, and some like it much hotter! The ‘House of Qi’ is a popular, gorgeously stylish oriental themed Sichuan eatery with tonnes of fire for your taste buds. The ‘House of Qi’ comes highly recommended by my ‘intestines made of steel’ friends whom seek and devour hot, spicy cuisine. You may need to be rescued from the heat, but that’s all part of the charm.
Urban dreams sounds just like ‘Potato Head’ to me!
A truly unforgettable dining experience made up of delicious Indonesian cuisine, hip décor, cool tunes, and great service. It’s all good! There’s not much to dislike here. Whether you choose to make a real night of it with friends or plan an intimate dinner with your chosen one, there are different seating options and areas available. You’ll want to come back again and again.
Sizzle the night away with fire and flames!
What could be more fun than an ‘interactive’ Korean BBQ cooking experience? You’ll find many Korean BBQ restaurants on and near Kimberly Road in TST. ‘Seorae’ is a modern, large, open eatery set in an industrial style space. The ambience is young, fresh and loud! The locals know this place well and there are often long queues at the entrance. You will be rubbing your tummy with a ‘smile on your dial’ for hours after.
Baby’s in bed let’s paint the town red!
