Babycook Recipes: Homemade Oat Milk

Oat Milk is a simple, yet deliciously creamy non-dairy milk alternative to milk. Now you can make it in your Beaba Babycook with 3 ingredients and 5 minutes!

Tip: you can use a linen towel, cheesecloth or coffee filter as a strainer!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tspn vanilla (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt (optional)
  • 1 pitted date for sweetness (optional)

Directions

  1. Place the oats into the blending bowl.
  2. Add water into the blending bowl with optional ingredients.
  3. Blend for one minute, or until oats are evenly mixed. Do not over-blend, or your oat milk will take on a thick, slimy texture.
  4. Gently strain the milk with a cheesecloth or nut milk bag over a large bowl. Do not squeeze the pulp, as pressing the mushy oats will make the milk gritty and slimy.
  5. Transfer the milk into a bottle.
  6. Place in fridge and enjoy for up to 3-5 days. Freezer friendly for up to 1 month!

Do note:

  • Oats for Babies: Oat milk is generally not a recommended replacement for breast milk or formula for babies under 12 months, but it is excellent for cereals or transitioning toddlers.
  • Separation: It is perfectly normal for natural oat milk to separate in the fridge. Just give the bottle a good shake before using.
