Babycook Recipes: Homemade Oat Milk
Oat Milk is a simple, yet deliciously creamy non-dairy milk alternative to milk. Now you can make it in your Beaba Babycook with 3 ingredients and 5 minutes!
Tip: you can use a linen towel, cheesecloth or coffee filter as a strainer!
Ingredients
- 1 cup oats
- 3 cups water
- 1 tspn vanilla (optional)
- 1 pinch salt (optional)
- 1 pitted date for sweetness (optional)
Directions
- Place the oats into the blending bowl.
- Add water into the blending bowl with optional ingredients.
- Blend for one minute, or until oats are evenly mixed. Do not over-blend, or your oat milk will take on a thick, slimy texture.
- Gently strain the milk with a cheesecloth or nut milk bag over a large bowl. Do not squeeze the pulp, as pressing the mushy oats will make the milk gritty and slimy.
- Transfer the milk into a bottle.
- Place in fridge and enjoy for up to 3-5 days. Freezer friendly for up to 1 month!
Do note:
- Oats for Babies: Oat milk is generally not a recommended replacement for breast milk or formula for babies under 12 months, but it is excellent for cereals or transitioning toddlers.
- Separation: It is perfectly normal for natural oat milk to separate in the fridge. Just give the bottle a good shake before using.
